LAWRENCEVLLE, GA

Unbeknown to us, this would become our last stop with the fair, and on my 40th birthday , no less.  September 24.  But, not before we had fun.

We had made quite a few friends along the way, and ones I am eternally grateful for.   We had also run into some of the worst weather possible. Flooding in nearby Atlanta proved to be a downfall for the fair, which was closed more than it was open in 2009.  That didn't stop the fair, or people putting these rides up in the midst of it all. John, for the first time, was sick for  the first few days, something that surprised everyone. Yet, he still worked, as he always had, and happily came home to a warm, cooked meal that most envied.

This was also the place where I got a special treat the night before my birthday-a performance by one of my all time favorite groups- Confederate Railroad. Hunter was dancing in his seat- and Rozeanna-always looking for an opportunity to get on stage.....started dancing up at the front row...and was allowed on stage with the band. She instantly won their hearts, and we got a wonderful picture with the whole band.  Rozeanna's choice of things to be signed? Her hands...and she had the entire band and security roaring with laughter when she held up her fingers and said - you missed a spot! It was a wonderful gift.

A 'carnie party' cookout was supposed to be that night, but it was mysteriously canceled after we were booted. Nervous, perhaps, as the police were a bit more alert? Or a reporter snooping around? Dunnno.

The people of this tiny town were wonderful.  When we were in a restaurant trying to figure out how to stretch the money we had, the sympathetic staff stepped in and the manager comped us a few meals and drinks.  It was something I will never forget and was extreamly grateful.

We left Lawrenceville for  Lake Ariel, PA,  three days later, again with nothing but the future before us. The adventure,at least with the carnival  was over, but the memories remained.
